The Keto diet has been coping a fair amount of criticism lately. From doctors to dietitians, everyone has something to say about the no-carb, high-protein diet and much of the feedback doesn’t sound too good.

From side-effects like bad breath or the grim-sounding keto-crotch, to fatigue and the fact that the diet requires you to cut out foods containing valuable nutrients like fibre – there’s not much quality, long-term evidence to recommend this diet.

The low-carb Keto diet certainly isn’t for everyone, and someone who definitely isn’t about that life is health and fitness influencer Kayla Itsines who recently revealed in an interview, “Of course I’m pro-bread!”

As if we needed another reason to love Kayla.

Kayla herself follows a Mediterranean-inspired diet – which unsurprisingly was also voted the best diet for 2019 recently.

“I eat seafood, I eat meat, I have pasta, bread, a lot of olive oil, oregano; my standard dressing is that with lemon and olive oil on everything,” Kayla told Well and Good.

“I never looked at food as something that was scary or like, ‘I can’t eat that.’ Of course you can! We’re here to eat,” Kayla said.

“If you want to have a piece of toast, just have a piece of toast,” the founder of the Bikini Body Guide stated. “It’s not a big deal.”

Preach. We couldn’t agree with you more Kayla.
