You don’t need the IQ of Einstein to know that eating before bed is not the best idea if you want to lose weight.
That being said, experts also warn not to go to bed hungry, either because a) you’ll spend the night tossing and turning only to wake up in the worst mood ever, and b) head to the kitchen and binge eat an entire day’s worth of calories before the clock strikes 9am.
And while you’d think reaching for a healthy piece of fruit or some veggies before popping off to bed would be the logical option if that hunger is really hitting hard, health experts have revealed the one food you should actually opt for – which will, in actual fact, help burn fat as you sleep: mozzarella string cheese sticks.
Yes, I repeat: Mozzarella. String. Cheese. Sticks.
The reason being is that each stick contains fewer than 100 calories, less than one gram of carbs and approximately 6 grams of protein. Furthermore, there’s the added benefit of calcium and vitamin D, so it literally is the dream bedtime snack.
For those who are lactose-intolerant, a small handful of nuts such as almonds or walnuts will do the trick.
But I mean, we’re practically telling you to eat cheese before bed, so IMO take this advice and run.
